Terms of Service

Last updated: July 30, 2026

These Terms of Service (”Terms”) govern your access to and use of Ancient Content, including our website, publication, newsletters, and any free or paid subscription (together, the “Service”). By subscribing to or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Who we are

Ancient Content is a digital publication covering ancient history, archaeology, and early civilisations, operated by:

Ancient Content Ltd A company registered in England and Wales, company number 17366928. Registered office: 27 Old Gloucester Street, London, WC1N 3AX, United Kingdom. Contact: hello@ancientcontent.com

In these Terms, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to Ancient Content Ltd, and “you” refers to you, the subscriber or user.

The Service

Ancient Content provides written articles, newsletters, and documentary-style videos. We offer both free and paid subscriptions. Free subscribers receive access to our public posts. Paid subscribers receive access to those posts as well as subscriber-only content, which may include in-depth articles, documentary films, and other material we designate as available to paid subscribers.

The specific content included with each subscription tier is described at the point of subscription and may change over time as our publication develops.

Subscriptions, billing, and payment

Free subscriptions. Free subscriptions are provided at no cost and may be cancelled by you at any time by unsubscribing.

Paid subscriptions. Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis, either monthly or annually, depending on the plan you choose. By taking out a paid subscription, you authorise us and our payment processor to charge the applicable fee to your chosen payment method at the start of each billing period.

Automatic renewal. Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. The fee charged on renewal will be the price of your plan in effect at that time.

Price changes. We may change our subscription prices from time to time. Where a change affects your existing subscription, we will give you reasonable notice before the change takes effect, and it will apply from your next renewal. If you do not wish to continue at the new price, you may cancel before it applies.

Payment processing. Payments are processed securely by our third-party payment provider. We do not store your full payment card details. Your use of the payment provider’s services may be subject to its own terms.

Cancellation and refunds

You may cancel your paid subscription at any time through your account settings. When you cancel, your subscription will remain active until the end of the billing period you have already paid for, after which it will not renew. You will continue to have access to paid content until that point.

We do not generally provide refunds for partial subscription periods once a billing period has begun, except where required by applicable law. If you believe you are entitled to a refund or have been charged in error, please contact us at hello@ancientcontent.com and we will consider your request.

Nothing in these Terms affects any statutory rights you may have as a consumer that cannot be excluded or limited by law.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your account details and login credentials secure, and for any activity that takes place under your account. Please notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your authorisation.

Acceptable use

The Service is provided for your personal, non-commercial use. When using the Service, you agree not to:

  • Copy, reproduce, republish, or redistribute our content, in whole or in part, except as expressly permitted by us or by law.

  • Share paid subscriber content, access credentials, or subscriber-only material with people who are not entitled to it.

  • Use the Service in any way that is unlawful, or that interferes with its operation or with other users’ enjoyment of it.

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its underlying systems.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for any subscriber who breaches these Terms.

Intellectual property

All content published as part of the Service, including articles, newsletters, videos, images, and the Ancient Content name and branding, is owned by Ancient Content Ltd or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.

Your subscription grants you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive right to access and view the content for your own use. It does not transfer any ownership of the content to you, and it does not permit you to reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the content without our prior written permission.

If you wish to quote, reference, or reuse our work beyond what is normally permitted, please contact us at hello@ancientcontent.com.

Availability and changes to the Service

We aim to keep the Service available and to publish regularly, but we do not guarantee that content will be published on any particular schedule, or that the Service will always be available and uninterrupted. We may add, change, or remove content and features, and we may suspend or discontinue the Service or any part of it, at our discretion.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. Our content is intended for general information and interest. While we take care in producing it, we make no warranties that it is complete, accurate, or up to date, and it should not be relied upon as professional or academic advice.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied warranties and conditions in relation to the Service.

Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

Subject to that, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service. Our total liability to you in connection with the Service will not exceed the amount you have paid us for your subscription in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

Termination

You may stop using the Service and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, or where we are required to do so by law. On termination, the provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive, including those on intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability, will continue to apply.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to notify subscribers. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes relating to them will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you may also benefit from any mandatory protections of the law of your country of residence.
